All students seeking an undergraduate degree at Montevallo must complete a core curriculum, which includes courses in oral and written communication, 文学, 人文与美术, the natural sciences and mathematics, 历史 and social and behavioral sciences, 个人发展.

Purpose and Goals of 通识教育
The core curriculum is the most complete embodiment of the University’s mission as Alabama’s publicly funded liberal arts college. 在本课程中, the University bears continually in mind the special meaning of freedom embodied in the term “liberal arts”: the arts that free or enable students to explore the perennial questions that confront every thoughtful human being questions about nature, 人性与社会, 和形而上学.
